Blog Updates...

...will happen one day soon. I'm having trouble getting access to an internet computer that can actually upload pics from a USB connection

Day 14 - Sun 22nd March: Iwo Jima Memorial, Washington D.C.

Here's some info, lifted straight from Wiki:

The memorial is dedicated to all personnel of the United States Marine Corps (USMC) who have died in the defense of their country since 1775. The design of the massive sculpture by Felix de Weldon was based on the iconic photo of the raising of the Flag on Iwo Jima by Associated Press photographer Joe Rosenthal.

Day 13 - Sat 21st March: Lincoln Memorial, Washington D.C.

This year sees the 200th Anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth, so there's quite a few exhibits dedicated to him in a number of WDC's museums.
He grew his beard in late 1860. He was in office from March 1861.
I presume these two events are not related.

Day 12 - Fri 20th March: United States Capitol, Washington D.C.

Here's the national Capitol building, but interestingly (?) it's not the largest Capitol building in the country. Texas' one in Austin is taller (see: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dipeshsoneji/450819059/)

Day 11 - Thurs 19th March: New York to Washington D.C.

Oops! I didn't take any pics today. It was raining and the bus ride was pretty uneventful. Here's a bonus pic from Niagara Falls back catalogue instead

Day 10 - Weds 18th March: Top of The Rock

The Rockefeller Center has a viewing gallery called Top of the Rock. You get some AMAZING views from there

Day 9 - Tues 17th March: Niagara Falls to New York

Another day on the train.
Here's a man that works on the train.

Day 8 - Mon 16th March: Niagara Falls

Patrick, the hostel owner, recommended Hanif, the laundromat owner.
Hanif recommended the coffee shop across the road.
This is Tom. He runs the coffee shop. He makes awesome Won Ton soup.

Day 7 - Sun 15th March: Niagara Falls

As the man's poncho indicates, I am in Canada.
'Arty' shots of the actual falls will no doubt appear on my FlickR album one day

Day 6 - Sat 14th March: New York to Niagara Falls

I spent most of my day on a train going from New York to Niagara Falls (10 hour trip).
Went past all kinds of scenery. Here's a pic of some farm land.

Day 5 - Fri 13th March: The Rockefeller Center (sic), NYC

Here's a kid ice skating at The Rockefeller Center. I would've challenged him to a race, but didn't want to embarrass him

Day 4 - Thurs 12th March: The Statue of Liberty, NYC

Does what it says on the tin.
For any photo geeks out there, this one was taken with a polarising filter.

Day 3 - Weds 11th March: The Met, NYC

There's so much to see at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, but one of my favourite things was this 'mirror ball' thing by a guy called Anish Kapoor. It's made up of loads of hexagonal mirrors. When you moved closer to it there would be 100s of small reflections; when you moved away there would be one big reflection of you. Weird, but cool.

Day 2 - Tues 10th March: Natural History Museum, NYC

This guy is so bored.
I have no idea why...there's loads of great space facts around him

Day 1 - Mon 9th March: London to NYC

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Er, yes it is. Another plane flys by en route to NYC
